Peace in Action

Pause for Peace

An initiative to inspire awareness of the stillness and peace that lies inside each of us — and to teach how to pause, reflect and access that peace within.

“There are many external crises. It is not always possible to do something about that. But the crises you create in your own mind — at least put a stop to that, and claim back your peace.”
— Dadi Janki

What it is

Anxiety, depression, anger, fear and stress — or peace, stability, calm, joy and clarity? What makes the difference is knowing how to pause, reflect, calm the mind, think objectively and respond from a place of neutrality, kindness and personal mastery.

The Pause for Peace initiative was conceived during a time when Kenya was in deep political crisis. It provides a platform to create peaceful and positive change — an opportunity to pause for a moment and connect with the inner self and with the Divine.

Youth leaders from the slums and institutions in Nairobi, who were looking for peace outside, were invited and given the experience of inner peace. With this profound experience they inspired almost a thousand youths to the Nairobi Centre, then organised programmes across the slums of Nairobi. Seeing the overwhelming success, the project was taken to the 47 counties of Kenya and throughout Africa.

In the classroom

Equipping teachers to encourage children to pause and reflect — creating a peaceful, receptive and creative learning environment.

In the workplace

Encouraging teams to pause and reflect — creating calm, reducing friction, facilitating better decisions and enhanced well-being.

In communities

When we collectively pause, we ignite the spirit of Ubuntu, empowering the highest values in each of us for a more harmonious, peaceful community.
